Step 1 · Consult
History and previous colour.
Four things, with what we hold published rather than implied.
Colour follows the manufacturer's instruction on allergy alert testing, including the interval they specify. We will not compress it for a same-day appointment. We are also straightforward about whether a reference photograph is achievable on hair that has been coloured at home, because starting and stopping halfway is worse than a frank conversation.
History and previous colour.
At the interval required.
Or an honest alternative.
What to use at home.
Whether registration applies.
Suitability and expectations.
Or decline and explain.
Written, where it matters.
Most beauty treatments need no licence at all, but a specific group does: skin piercing, tattooing, semi-permanent skin colouring and micropigmentation, electrolysis. Those require registration with the council. We hold it for what we offer in that category and we offer nothing in it that we are not registered for.
Consultations are free, including any patch test, because charging for the safety step discourages it. We do not diagnose: a scalp condition, unexplained hair loss, a lesion or an infection goes to a pharmacist, GP or dermatologist. We may also defer a treatment until something has been looked at, which is occasionally unwelcome and always the right call.
What you want, realistically.
Skin and scalp condition.
If colour is involved.
Where a clinician is needed.
Qualifications and insurance seen.
Written, and not employment.
Who they are contracting with.
Cover kept current.
Where a service here is provided by a self-employed professional running their own business, they are responsible for their own qualifications, insurance and compliance, and you contract with them rather than with us. We tell you which arrangement applies before a booking is taken, because a client who assumes otherwise has no idea who to go to if something goes wrong.
Ask us. Qualifications, insurance and registration, shown on request.
